Not sure if this is the base price, or discounted along with all the other “discounts” on this promotional mailer.
“May not be combined with any other offer,” as if anyone can afford to keep saving money at this rate.

Did we start with a tariff on Japanese car parts as well?

Yeah, this would make me not trust anything the dealer offered. If they are willing to charge absurd prices for something I know to be super easy, what would they charge for tasks that actually take effort.
Maybe other Hondas are worse, but the CR-V is trivial. Here’s a guy doing it in a minute, and frankly he seems to be doing it pretty leisurely:
In other air filter news, I got a new cabin air filter today:
Unfortunately Volvo makes them a bit harder to get to, but aside from a pair of screws way back against the firewall, it’s not too bad (the S40 was way easier, as the filter cover was secured with a plastic latch rather than screws).

I chan ged his rather innocuous looking hydraulic filter today. 7" from end to end. $297.
Maybe there's hidden savings you're unaware of.

Depends.
Does Honda do the asshole stunt where the cabin filter is located under the cowl, ejects directly into the hood, and uses a non-disposable plastic frame that nevertheless you will end up disposing of because it breaks because they designed it so you have to wrestle it out?

$70 would have been a good deal in my C30. You had to remove the side panels on the console and then remove the gas pedal. And then blindly clip the filter in after slightly bending it so it fit in the housing.

Mine and the examples I’ve seen on Y outube are trivial. The hardest part is mak ing all your junk fit back in the glovebox.

Nissan wanted to charge my coworker $180 to change the filter in her Sentra.

(Yes, you must remove the entire cowl.)
Step 1: wipers must be perpendicular. Step 2: remove entire cowl. Step 3: no it doesn’t fucking lift out, it’s an accordion

All the way AT THE FIREWALL, under the dash, ABOVE the top of the gas pedal, extracting DIRECTLY into the pedal rod, as a barely flexible plastic assembly, with a flimsy plastic “locking” tab, and no possibility of seeing what the fuck you’re doing.

Fact: Crown Victoria Police Interceptors have no cabin filters.

Nope. Pull the glovebox, take o ff the access door, check to make sure its facing up, do reverse. 5 min tops. Unless its an odyssey element or passport with the vertically mounted filter, then you have to unscrew a support bracket. 10 min tops

Why? Does the extra police gear somehow get in the way?
